PMAD Support Group: Recognizing Triggers

  • Wyndhurst Counseling Center - Private Upper Room

Do you know the #1 complication of pregnancy and childbirth?

Anxiety and depression.

It is true that approximately 60-80% of new mamas experience the Baby Blues, a period of temporary moodiness beginning 1 to 3 days after delivery symptoms usually disappear within two weeks. For some of us, 20% of new mamas to be exact, we experience something more than the Baby Blues. We experience Postpartum Depression. While the symptoms are similar to Baby Blues, they are more persistent, lasting throughout the day and longer than two weeks, they can impair a mother’s ability to function. Postpartum Depression can occur anytime during the first year after delivery.

The good news is for mamas experiencing Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD) you are not alone! 1 in 5 new mamas are affected. With help you will be well.

Support groups can be an important part of recovery. Talking to mamas that have survived PMAD can be very helpful. Support groups offer the opportunity to validate experiences, share coping strategies, and gain support and encouragement.

Please join us the second and fourth Mondays of each month.  For immediate support, email contact@themotherhoodcollective.org.

Sorry, children over one not permitted.

Whether you're expecting your first baby or have had multiple children, we hope you'll join us and our panel as we bare all. We're talking the good, the bad and the beautiful about our bodies. Our childbearing years bring many changes and often we're left with the physical reminders of the process. Perhaps not all of these changes are easy to love, but acceptance is important! Share the morning with us as we chat openly about how to appreciate our bodies amid our culture of airbrushing and false perfection.

PMAD Support Group: Partner Support

PMAD Support Group

Postpartum Gift Work Night

If you have been looking for a way to give back - here is the perfect opportunity! Give yourself and others the gift of community this year.

We are so thrilled to be hosting our third Postpartum Gift Bag Work Night! We have had tons of inquiries about our "work parties" since our first event.

Come enjoy a "sewing circle" atmosphere as we assemble and stuff our beautiful tote bags for new mothers in our community. This is an evening of important work as we serve, gather and enjoy our time together.

The Motherhood Café: Infertility Awareness - Let's Break the Silence

  • Mosaic in the Plaza

Did you know that between 2006-2010, 7.4 million American women of reproductive age struggled with infertility? So why do we hide in shame? Infertility should not be taboo. We owe it to ourselves and our friends to learn about it -- and talk about it! Our panel will consist of women who have (or are) experiencing infertility, as well as, fertility experts. Let's help to eliminate the stigma and bring light to these issues. 1 in 4 women will experience infertility or pregnancy loss. You are not alone.

Our morning will conclude, as always, with our small groups on Pregnancy/Birth, Infancy, & Parenting.
