The Motherhood Café - Understanding Miscarriage : Causes, Symptoms, Treatments and Finding Support

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. Roughly 15 to 20 percent of all pregnancies in the United States end in miscarriage. Even with these large numbers, often parents feel isolated after pregnancy loss. We'll cover the basics -- common terminology, options for care, and possible troubles women face afterwards. It will be a morning of education, support, reassurance and healing conversation.

Our programs are FREE and OPEN to the public. See details below for information regarding our FREE childcare, up to age four.

As always, we will also be broadcasting via Facebook Live!

Our Cafe mornings close with peer-led small groups on Pregnancy/Birth, Infancy (0-6 months, 6-12 months) and Parenting. During small group time, we are often able to offer Care Group for those walking through infertility, miscarriage and child loss.

Children under one, can stay right with you. For children between the ages of one and four, we offer FREE on-site childcare.

Copy of The Motherhood Café - Pregnancy Beyond Expectations : Sharing and Celebrating the Resilience of Motherhood

This is the second Cafe of a new topic series we’re debuting in 2019. Often the journey to motherhood looks different than we expect. Specific challenges such as infertility, miscarriage and child loss can drastically alter our plans. Difficult pregnancies and serious health concerns affect us in many ways. These “Beyond Expectation” topics will be true affirmations of the TMC tagline: “No one is alone” as we join our panelists in sharing stories and holding space for each other.

---Childcare slots are limited and registration is on a first come first serve basis. Childcare reservations will be accepted no sooner than a week prior to a Cafe event and can be made by e-mailing childcare@themotherhoodcollective.org with the following information:

  • Mother's full name/contact phone number/e-mail address

  • Child's full name

  • Child's Age and birth date

  • List any allergies or list "none"

  • First time in childcare: yes or no

Reservations will be secured in the order that they are received. Adoption & Foster Care Support Group: Behavioral Challenges Part 2

While we can’t ignore or excuse the behavior that comes with the mad feelings, we can be compassionate and empathetic about the sadness they’re experiencing. We can choose to shift our focus from punishing the behavior to calming their big feelings and giving them a chance for a ‘re-do’ once things have settled down. Armed with these insights, we find ourselves more able to stay connected to our children.

Peer-to-peer support for women walking through every step of foster care and adoption. Supporting and educating women as we acclimate to life (in any season) with foster and adoptive children.

Offering the opportunity to validate experiences, share resources, and gain support and encouragement.

The Motherhood Café - Preparing for Birth : What to Expect During Labor, Delivery and Newborn Care

Birth philosophies, labor plans, newborn hospital procedures, postpartum plans -- these are just some of the things to think about as you prepare for birth. We'll talk with mothers, educators and care providers to find out the things you should think about before "delivery day". Is a birth plan necessary? What should you and your partner discuss before you head to the hospital? What does your labor support look like? You don't have to be a first-time mom to benefit from this Cafe. Bring your questions and your pregnant friends!

Our programs are FREE and OPEN to the public. See details below for information regarding our FREE childcare, up to age four.

As always, we will also be broadcasting via Facebook Live!
